Hmmmm, 24 hours on the road? On foot? And then in one piece? Blisters form on my feet just thinking about it. Although, it is already a challenge or!?! And it's certainly fun! And when such an opportunity presents itself next weekend (14 - 16.09.2018) with the "Biolectra 24h Trophy" in the holiday region of Winterberg/Hallenberg, then it is cool and tempting to dig the hiking boots out of the cupboard again... Doesn't often offer the opportunity in Germany and then still in Winterberg. Okay, let's go!

The name "24 hours Winterberger Hochtour extreme" makes you want to do it, but maybe the half-distance over 12 hours is enough. So as an experience tour. It's good that the start and finish are in the Kur- und Vitalpark Winterberg. Makes the logistics easier and the journey anyway. Anyone who feels fit and prepared for such a tour can take part. Hiking together, experiencing nature and overcoming boundaries - that's what the event series is all about, which has now achieved cult status and has also been nominated for the German Brand Award 2018. Winterberg in the Hochsauerland with the eight-hundreds certainly fits perfectly into the series. Well, afterwards and a few kilometres further on, it will become clear whether Wanderer fits in with the Eight Hundred... But it will...

Very special moments in nature

Hiking at night in the moonlight is already crass. Or into the dawn. Tempo is not important, it's about the way, not about sporting success. Especially since the landscape is already appealing, so the one or other break makes sense. The Trophy organizers have plenty of routes to choose from in Winterberg. 480 kilometers of trails are already an announcement. Rothaarsteig and Sauerland Höhenflug, for example, are well known. No wonder that hiking boots and people from all over Europe will be on the road. They always say that hiking is addictive. If this is true, the trip to Winterberg will certainly not be a one-time thing. Then a repetition is announced, on own fist. With an overnight stay in the immediate vicinity of the best hiking trails. Our hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe is not a bad choice. Central, great atmosphere, nice hosts and a little different from others. So it fits! If the feet do not want more, it goes halt on the Erlebnisberg or in the Bikepark next door. There's nothing like alternatives.

Starter package fulfils all wishes

So, what has to be in your luggage for the Wander-Trophy? The right clothes, of course. And comfortable shoes! Because of the blisters! Otherwise the organizers have everything under control. Maps are there. There is plenty of information and the tours are even accompanied. So if nothing else goes, no one is left behind in the forest. Even the backpack food and a small gift is included in the package. Perfect! If your motivation drops in the meantime, at least the finisher party with free beer and a certificate will tempt you. So, hang in there!!!

The procedure for the Trophy hikers is simple: the purchased tickets are exchanged for the starter package at the accreditation on site. Each participant must also present a signed disclaimer. Tickets can also be purchased on site against cash payment up to 30 minutes before the start of the respective hikes.

Germany's best railway station 2018 is in Winterberg

And if you want to travel comfortably by train to Winterberg, you will arrive at the newly awarded best train station in Germany. Crazy, isn't it? The new, futuristic building was only inaugurated in 2017. It not only combines the classic train station with ticket office, but guests can get information there directly from a branch of the tourist office about their options at the resort of Winterberg. At the hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe , however, there are also plenty of parking spaces available if you arrive by your own car! Okay, shoes in the backpack and off we go in adventure...
